Farewells

Working overseas with many other expats, we often say goodbye to each other.  This past week, I said goodbye to Chelsea, a dear friend from church.  She came to Macau from Japan about one year ago to work at a travel agency in Macau.  Though a Christian, she wasn't sure if she wanted to get involved in the local church, but she visited Oasis International Church anyway.  From there, she was invited to join the weekly Mandarin home group, and then became a core member of the group, rarely absent from a Friday night.  She brought a sense of humor to the group and was often my "English buddy" - partners in not knowing what was going on.  I'll miss her a lot.

And then at work this week, we also said goodbye to an instructor, Rex Wilson.  Rex has taught in Macau for 25 years and is retiring this year.  Fortunately, he'll still be around as a volunteer since he and his wife have residency in Macau.
